Since 2015, the Good Food Network has been working to transform our regional food system. Through advancing Food Access, the Local Food Economy, and Food Literacy across the region, the Network has worked to nurture a healthier and more sustainable food system, providing good food for all.

In 2018, we created a comprehensive outcomes map that identified our key indicators and goals for the Good Food 2025 initiative. With 2025 marking the beginning of our evolution process, we’re taking this opportunity to evaluate our progress on these key indicators.

Since then, emergent indicators have prompted initiatives such as Equity First. This, and other efforts, are helping us centre the advancement of Equity and Justice within the Network.

This “Good Food 2025 Evolution” will also enable the Good Food Network to diversify our leadership structure and centre the voices Indigenous, Black, Immigrant, and other Equity-Denied communities who have been historically ostracized or harmed by our food system.

Gathering Stories of Impact

As the Network embarks on our Good Food 2025 Evolution process, we will be highlighting key Stories of Impact from the last decade. Our stories of impact are real-world examples that demonstrate how the work we do advances the long-term goals, outcomes, and benefits outlined in our Collaborative Outcome Map. Each story of impact connects directly to specific elements of the Collaborative Outcome Map by showing tangible results of activities, programs, or initiatives undertaken. These stories provide us with an opportunity to recognize the efforts and the contributions of Network members towards advancing these key collaborative outcomes.

What other stories should we be talking about?

Who was involved?

Who was impacted?

So far we’ve identified a handful of stories of impact, but we wanted to hear from you about which organizations and initiatives have contributed to advancing our learnings and progress towards our collaborative goals (i.e. enhanced resilience, environmental health, public health, social well-being, and reconciliation). However, these stories of impact don’t necessarily need to focus on successes alone. We recognize the valuable learning that comes from initiatives that didn’t meet their desired goals or didn't connect with the community in the way it was intended.

Have you helped organize, participated in, or heard about, an initiative that was related to any of these key outcomes? Please consider sharing your own Stories of Impact to help illustrate our Network’s incremental progress toward these ultimate goals. The stories often show how we are living out our values; such as promoting resilience, food sovereignty, Indigenous foodways, and health of land and water. Many impacts we share reflect strengthening system management (e.g., better collaboration, stronger leadership), building assets and resources (e.g., better food infrastructure), or increasing food access and equity. Your Stories of Impact might highlight training programs, partnerships, or governance improvements that correspond directly to these areas of growth.

Share your Stories of Impact

Whether your initiative sparked big change or offered quiet insight, we believe every story holds value. We invite you to reflect on what you’ve been part of—and share your story with us. Your experiences will help highlight the depth and diversity of our collective impact.

CRFAIR supports the development of this network by hosting its communication tools, generating funding for coordination of network activities, and coordinating the Good Food Summit.

CRFAIR and the Good Food Network promote healthy and sustainable food systems.  This considers our relationships with each other, and the land and waters of this region.  We endeavour to honour the land and its treaties by strengthening our relationship and responsibilities to them. We live and work on unceded Coast Salish Territories*, specifically of the Lək̓ʷəŋən (Songhees) and Xwsepsum (Esquimalt) Nations here in the core area, the W̱SÁNEĆ Nations {W̱JOȽEȽP (Tsartlip), BOḰEĆEN (Pauquachin), SȾÁUTW̱,(Tsawout) W̱SIKEM (Tseycum)} out on the Saanich Peninsula and Gulf Islands, to the west Sc'ianew (Beecher Bay), T’Sou-ke, and Pacheedaht, and MÁLEXEȽ (Malahat) and Pune’laxutth’ (Penelekut) Nations.
